Former FC Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas opened up on managing the club one day after he recently began his coaching career as an assistant manager of Serie B side Como.

Fabregas played for Barcelona for three years, from 2011 to 2014, where he appeared in 94 matches and scored 28 goals. He was also part of the squad that won the league with 100 points in 2013.

The Spaniard is still in the very early days of his managerial career, he took over as the interim manager of Como, then Osian Roberts was brought in and he became his assistant.

Fabregas didn’t rule out coaching Barcelona one day as he has a deep connection with the club and would definitely explore the opportunity to coach his boyhood club should that ever come.

“Coaching Barca one day? That’s something you never know. I think that first I have to grow, take steps…. That’s why I’m happy where I am, because I’m not under too much pressure,” he told Mundo Deportivo.

“In the end, you can be judged, you can be told you’re very good, or not, but in the end it’s the work you do day by day…. There are coaches who, so to speak, are not well regarded, but you see them working every day and you think: this is a crack. You have to feel good about yourself.”

He also spoke about Xavi, who is set to step down as Barcelona manager at the end of the season, saying he has been under numerous pressure.

“I can’t speak for anyone because what Xavi has lived through is what he has lived through and the pressure must be insurmountable,” Fabregas remarked.

Remember, Fabregas is considered one of the best midfielders of the last 20 years. He started his career with the English club Arsenal at the age of 16 and went on to play 212 games for the Gunners before leaving for Barca.

He also earned 110 international caps for Spain and was a regular part of the legendary team that created history and swept off three international tournaments consecutively by winning Euro 2008, World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012 again.
